Day 59 Escape From the Island August 9, 2001

Finally. ! had everything ready to go in time to make the ferry. Once
that ferry got to Seattle ! would have 25 minutes to make the next ferry to
Bainbridge Island. ! got on the first ferry and they told us they had
problems w/ a boat so we had to wait for another ferry to get in. !'m not
sure why. ! assume it was so those passengers who were switching boats could
get on ours. After a 20 minute delay off we went. We pulled into Seattle just
in time to see the Bainbridge Island ferry pull out. So it's another hour
'til the next boat. Time to go to Tully's for coffee. Starbucks isn't really
that good. ! came back just a couple minutes too late and missed that boat
too. So another hour waiting. This time ! got on the boat. And ! was off as
soon as they opened the gates. When ! stopped for lunch ! went around to the
bathroom to fill MY bottle. Right outside the back door some guy was washing
his Ferrari 308. Then, just before the bridge off the North end of the island
! saw another 308. ! saw some interesting street signs on the way up here.
Two Crane Lane and Egg and I Rd. The hills can be pretty steep around here. !
made it to the hostel in Port Townsend, WA about 6 pm. !'ll be here for 2
days before heading to Port Angeles, WA to catch another ferry to Victoria,
BC. 60 miles.
