Day 52 Lance was on Regis this morning August 2, 2001

Battered AA battery count 22

! got to see it since ! was in the hotel. He's off to see GW tomorrow.
Today was supposed to be a short day. On the road @ 10:30. ! went North the
way ! came then across on North 21st St. to Pearl St. Down to Point Defiance
Park to catch the ferry to Vashon Island. It was noon and the next ferry
didn't leave 'til 2:45 so ! rode around the park on Five Mile Rd. then up the
hill to get lunch. The Antique Sandwich shoppe looked interesting. After
waiting 10 minutes the line hadn't moved. ! went across the street to the
place that said they had the best food in town. It was OK. The really cool
thing there was the cherry shake. ! had to try it. It was amazing. ! nearly
ordered another one. After waiting around for a while the ferry was underway.
On the other side ! took the road up the West side of the island. There were
some big hills, but it was worth it. This hostel is neat. They have Teepees
and covered wagons for the private rooms. In the morning we get a "cowboy
breakfast". We make our own pancakes. ! went to the market and spent $24 for
dinner and some breakfast stuff. Good bacon and OJ. For dinner ! had spinach
ravioli w/ marinara. ! put some little shrimps in the sauce and cut up a roma
tomato. Broccoli and cheese sauce on the side and molasses cookies for
dessert. !'ll be shaving before ! head into Seattle tomorrow. ! have to have
a goatee to get in ! think. The Blue Angels will be performing this weekend.
There is an aircraft carrier and several other Navy boats on display. After
dinner we played frisbee in the giant camping area. Espresso tomorrow. !'ll
be here 3-4 days. 33 miles.
