Day 56 Microsoft August 6, 2001

! needed to get out to Performance in Redmond to trade in MY chain. Since
Microsoft is in Redmond ! figured ! could pop by to see it too. Actually
Performance and the MS campus are just a few blocks apart. ! had also heard
of a troll under a bridge and the locks from the lakes to the bay. They have
a fish ladder w/ windows so you can watch them go upstream. Not many
traveling today. Then ! had to figure out how to get to Redmond via bus. The
bus drivers seemed to not know how to get anywhere. It took quite a bit of
effort, but ! managed to make it out there. The bus back to town was full of
Micro Serfs. All geeky and very quiet. It was nearly 9pm when ! got back to
the hostel. Too late to work on the Jackal and get ready to leave on the last
morning ferry. Looks like another day here. Welcome to the hostel California.
There was a couple from Belgium who were making ribs for dinner. They had
wine and invited several of us in to share. ! was up late into the night
discussing politics w/ a poli sci grad from Boulder, CO. 0 miles.
