Day 50 Almost Vacation Time July 31, 2001

Another easy day. It turned out that the eggs ! got last night weren't raw like ! thought.
They had been hard boiled. The maple oat muffin was yummy though. ! took back
roads all the way to Millersvania State Park. !'m just South of Olympia, WA. Probably
about 130th St. Halfway ! came into Chehalis, WA and spotted a laundry. It took an
hour to wash. Now MY towel doesn't smell like fresh mildew anymore. By then ! was
hungry. Off to the brew pub to feed. Then up through Centralia, WA and Tenino, WA to
the Park. !'ll have to back track 6 miles to Tenino in the morning for breakfast and to
get onto 507 then 7 into Tacoma, WA. !'ll be looking for Performance and a hotel. It
should be a longer day than today was. Last night ! was excited about getting online
again. The last several times ! was in a place w/ no local aol numbers so ! had to use
the 800# for $6/hour. Not only was it expensive, but ! had some of the slowest
connections !'ve ever had w/ them. Basically, all ! did was send mail which ! had saved
to be sent and downloaded e mail to read offline. Tomorrow !'ll be able to research
stocks and options and read a month's worth of Dilbert. ! have a whole list of stuff !
want to see. Last time ! said ! had gotten away w/ selling the options. Well, while ! was
sending that ! got assigned on the LUcent stock. ! had thought the options expired on
the 3rd Friday of the month. It's actually the Saturday after that. They got ME on the
last day. !'ve got a big loss on those. Less than if ! hadn't used them to make some
money though. The big 12 mile climb to Leggett, CA on day 33 is in a book called the
Pacific Coast by Bicycle or something like that. It shows 101 and 1 and also give an
elevation profile. ! got to see it recently. ! figured ! had climbed up about 1,000'. It was
actually 2,000'. Every page shows the graph only going to 1,000' except that page. !
started down near 50'. Everyone ! talk to about it is glad they get to go down it instead
of up. !'ll be up early tomorrow for a medium length day. 40 miles.
