Day 92 Terrorists (9.11) September 11, 2001

! slept well last night. ! used the earplugs. The plan for today was to ride down to Pier 11 to get on the ferry to the Highlands in New Jersey and then ride about 30 miles into Philadelphia, PA. Today is primary day in NYC. ! saw the weather report on tv. They said it was going to be a beautiful day and there was no reason not to get out and vote. ! was trying to call the hostels in Philly, but the phones were busy. ! figured they were just overwhelmed. ! glanced over @ the tv and saw a fire. ! looked closer and realized it was one of the twin towers. They said a plane had crashed into the top of the building. Everyone was wondering how that could happen and then as ! watched another airliner crashes into the other tower on live tv. Now we knew it was terrorists. W. came on and did a press conference from FL. Minutes later scenes from the Pentagon. Another hijacked jet had crashed into it. Another half hour of watching the towers in flames a reporter was doing an interview and they panned up onto the South tower just in time lots of noise and smoke and dust. No one knew what had happened. Maybe a bomb. Other camera angles showed the tower collapsing. Not long after that we saw the other tower drop. Now the new building @ 7 World Trade is engulfed in flames. It's the 60 story Verizon building. So far only 3 deaths out of about 130 serious patients. Also 265 people on the 4 jets. The buildings are said to hold 10,000 people/tower. Some say 50,000. The lobby of the hostel is packed. Everyone is glued to the screen. There are car fires burning downtown. The bridges and tunnels were all closed down. Now some are open so people can get out of town. The pier ! was going to catch the ferry from was engulfed in dust. ! walked down there yesterday from the NYSE. Just blocks from the towers. If they had told ME that there was a ferry 45 minutes earlier ! would have been right down there for the whole thing. 7 World Trade just collapsed @ 5:15 pm. One of the towers did a lot of damage to it when it fell. !'ll be staying here another night. ! wonder if we will be going to war now. Osama Bin Laden is the main suspect according to those who are speculating. The word is that he is holed up in Afghanistan. When ! first heard a plane had hit, they were saying it was a big jet airliner. That sounded amazingly implausible ! figured it was a Leer jet out of control. !'m in Harlem. Apparently the safest place in the city. About 100 deaths @ the Pentagon was the latest report. This was really well planned. Four large airliners from the East coast heading to LA nonstop. Full of fuel and they hit the towers hard on the side to assure a collapse. ! went over to Mount Sinai to donate blood. They are only taking O-negative. They told ME to try tomorrow. ! can do 40 miles one pint low. The video is just amazing. Mayor Guilliani is hidden in a secret location to handle everything. F-16s are flying over the city ready to shoot down anything that goes up. They are speculating that the plane that went down in PA was targeting Camp David. ! nearly bought a couple of shirts near there yesterday. A big sale. ! would have had to have them shipped. That place is probably gone now. There were people jumping from the towers. Maybe ! can get out tomorrow. Now there are explosions in Kabul, Afghanistan. It looks like Cruise missiles. That's the retaliation. Now they say it wasn't from US.
