Day 87 Change of State September 6, 2001

! didn't have to get going early today since the first ferry to New
Bedford, TA didn't leave Oak Bluffs 'til 11:30. ! took MY time and even had
time to put in a limit order on MY HRB options. The ferry landed @ 1 o'clock.
! went for lunch and looked @ the map on the place mat. It looked pretty
simple to get to Route 6. It wasn't. ! was going in the general direction and
finally found it. ! went through Fall River, TA and crossed the river there
then 6 combined w/ I-195 to cross the river into Providence, RI. Of course it
was just a little before 5 pm when ! got on the interstate and got pulled
over. The cop said there was a bike route along the river that would take ME
right where ! needed to go. Of course ! had to go down a narrow on-ramp. One
block and ! got to the "Bike Trail Ends" sign. Now ! had to wander through
the city looking for a hotel. ! was in the slums. ! stopped @ 2 gas stations
to get directions. They hadn't even heard of the roads was looking for. !
found the center of town in a traffic jam then ! had estimated MY mileage
trying to be conservative. ! came up w/ 45 miles. That seemed like a good
distance considering the late start and that ! didn't really rest yesterday.
