Day 82 Lost in BeanTown September 1, 2001

! was on the road @ 8 this morning. Not too bad. It thunder stormed last
night about 2:30. ! had to sprint outside to get MY towel so it wouldn't get
drenched. There was some lightning and thunder so ! had a couple Pop Tarts
and went back to sleep. The odd thing about being out in the woods after a
rain is that the leaves catch a lot of the water. Later when the wind blows
through the upper boughs the rainwater falls to the ground. It's hard to tell
if it's really raining or not. It took a while, but ! found a big, hearty
breakfast. Then ! found a candy factory soon after. They had an ice cream
bar. Flavor of the week was Toffee Crunch. No, ! didn't bank over immediately
into the parking lot. ! did a couple of circles on the next corner then went
back. ! don't think enough people eat dessert after breakfast. ! started
calling hostels in Boston, TA. As ! suspected the first few were booked up. !
got one in Brookline, TA. A suburb. Of course ! got really lost coming in.
MY map shows just a couple streets. The campground last night was shown on
roads that didn't have #s by them. Luckily ! asked for directions since it
was actually off a different highway than it looked to be. ! think ! can take
the trolley into town and not have to deal w/ as much traffic during rush
hour when ! leave Monday morning. It'll be Labor day too. ! guess there won't
be a rush hour. !'m on Beacon St. The trolley runs right down the middle of
the road. !'m also very near Boston College. The streets were packed w/
students moving in today. They were everywhere and most of them have no idea
how to drive. So, of course they get U-hauls to practice in. ! did MY most
expensive load of laundry ever. These college students should invest in
washing machines and have their friends come over to use them. ! came through
Marlborough, TA today. Just a reminder to all you kids out there. Don't
Smoke. It's gross. But if you do smoke, make sure to only buy Phillip Morris
brand products. Tomorrow is a rest day. 68 miles.
