Day 81 Much Cleaner Now August 31, 2001

It was only 0.6 miles from the park to highway 9. ! got sprinkled on a
couple times today. Mostly it was sunny out though. And the miles went by
quickly. Mostly downhill today. Also the map is in a larger scale than the NY
map so ! get across panels faster. The last town ! passed w/ an elevation on
the map said 472'. ! think ! may be in a valley. Tomorrow may be a tough day.
! need to call the hostels in Boston and make reservations. 2 days there to
rest and look around. TA has such quaint little colloquialisms on their road
signs. If a lane ends they say "lane drop ahead". By a construction site one
said "squeeze right" and MY favorite so far "thickly settled". That one was
on Podunk Rd. ! saw a large wild cat wander across the road today. It
disappeared down the embankment before ! could get the camera out so you'll
just have to take MY word on it. ! called HRB about MY options and was
pleased w/ what they had to say. Except that ! want to buy some to hold onto.
Solomon Smith Barney doesn't handle that they say. They gave ME a different
#. After getting transferred around ! figured out that John Hancock Financial
Services had no idea what ! was talking about. All they sell are their mutual
fund shares. That problem is not cleared up yet, but ! think ! have most of
the other info ! need. This campground has showers that work. ! am so much
cleaner now. They had a slide show about raptors tonight. A couple raptors
working w/ Bob & Leo would make an invincible team. 64 miles.
