Day 77 August 27, 2001. ! Found the Up in Upstate NY

! wasn't able to get online last night so a hotel wasted. Leftover pizza
for breakfast. It rained most of the night ! guess. ! was drenched when ! got
back from the pizza joint. Everything was damp today, but the sun was out. So
were all the dead frogs. They don't handle traffic very well. Lots of them on
the shoulder. !'m in the land were there are no hamburgers. Just hamburgs and
cheeseburgs. Gotta save those syllables. ! found a Motto Guzzi dealership
just outside Syracuse, NY. Yesterday ! had a flat front tyre when ! woke up.
! couldn't find a hole so ! just pumped it up. It was fine for about 50 miles
then it went flat on ME again. ! pumped it up and it was ok. ! ran over
something and the back tyre started hissing. ! patched 2 holes. When !
finished the back tyre the front one was flat so ! got to patch it too. This
morning the B.O.B tyre was flat and still had a staple in it. That must be
what ! hit last night. It's fixed now. After 55 miles today the front tyre
went flat on ME so ! replaced the tyre and the tube. That's about 3,500 miles
on the front. Not too bad. The rear one lasted 1,000 miles and it's
replacement is pushing 2,000. ! found the hostel about 3 pm. They don't open
'til 5 pm so ! had to find something to do for a couple hours. They did have
a note on the door saying there were beds available. ! made spinach and
cheese tortellini in garlic alfredo sauce. ! added some onion, a tomato and
italian sausage. ! managed to save half for dinner tomorrow night. For
dessert Maple and walnut ice cream. ! didn't manage to save any of that. !
got to see Weakest Link for the first time during dinner. Lots of hills
today. ! think !'m up to a couple hundred feet elevation. 75 miles.
