Day 8 Fear June 19, 2001

! spent the night in Taos @ the Holiday Inn. Checqued e mail and sold
some options. Also did 20 laps of the wading pool. That thing was so short it
seemed like a couple strokes and it was time to flip. ! got a Fat Tire w/
dinner. Mmmm. In the morning ! went by the H&R Block office to see about
classes. All the offices in NM and AZ are franchises except Albuquerque and
don't do classes 'til September. Next stop was Gearing Up bike shoppe for
some parts and a geek mirror. It seemed like a good idea, but ! just am not
getting it yet. On the way out of town ! passed the Taos Regional Airport.
What a sight. A flock of gliders waiting to get towed. ! crossed over the Rio
Grande Gorge and then came by this place where all the homes are self
supporting. www.earthship.org. Camp was to be in the Carson National Forest
just off Highway 64. ! was concerned about bears, wolves and mountain lions.
!'m sure there's something about living out in the wilderness that's
appealing. ! just haven't figured it out yet. ! like the city. ! did manage
to see the Big Dipper one night. ! don't think ! had ever seen it before.
We'll see if ! get used to it.
