Day 73 Lucked Out August 23, 2001

! came downstairs this morning to see if there were any vacancies. There
was one. ! won't have to sleep @ the train station or wander the streets all
night tonight. Good thing too. ! couldn't get to sleep last night 'til late
then ! woke up after 4 hours and spent the next 2 trying to get back to
dozing. ! managed to get a 20 minute nap. ! went on the walking tour today.
We saw all kinds of interesting stuff and learned history. There is a little
park right behind the hostel. It's also right behind one of the old town
halls. They had trials in the building then would bring the convicts out back
to the park to execute them. We crossed the longest street in the world.
Yonge St. was built as an escape route in the event of an American invasion.
It worked. We invaded. They fled. General Pike namesake of Pike's Peak was
killed in that battle. ! saw ornate banks and churches. And the tallest free
standing structure in the world. The CN Tower. 1,800 ft. or so tall. Of
course they measured it in meters. From there it was into Union Station and
then almost all the way back to the hostel underground. It's raining outside
now. ! totally missed the heavy part. Tomorrow morning ! have to rescue the
Jackal from the train station and get on the ferry to Niagara Falls. 0 miles
again today.
