Day 67 Zip Ties August 17, 2001

Today is the day to get on the train. ! either have to fix the rack or
order a new one. After breakfast ! went to the hardware store and got a big
bag of zip ties. They are wonderful things. 21 of them are now holding the
rack on the fender of the B.O.B. It seems to be working ok so far. The
panniers are high enough so they don't drag in turns. It'll be tough getting
the wheel off the trailer if it flats. Oh well. It has only gone flat once
and that was in MY back yard. After laundry ! loaded everything up and headed
out searching for lunch. ! found a garlic and spinach pizza w/ feta cheese. !
decided to wander through town to look around and make sure the zip ties were
going to hold. ! made it to the train station about 2 hours early and boxed
up the jackal. In the lounge they had internet access and juice. Out on the
platform they had a band to play for us. We boarded an hour late and finally
headed out. Dinner as we passed through the outskirts of civilization towards
the Rocky mountains. The food is quite delicious and there are snacks about.
! did have a bit of a fright. While brushing MY teeth ! noticed a little
tupperware container in the bathroom. ! couldn't tell what it was so ! opened
it up. Something in foamy water. ! still didn't know what it was, but ! had
to find out. ! poked it and that's when ! got it. It was someone's teeth.
Ick. 12 miles.
