Day 65 4,839 Kilometers August 15, 2001

That's 3,000 miles. ! rode into the city to get breakfast and find the
VIARail station. ! leave via train for Toronto Friday evening. The VIARail
website is quite confusing. ! had estimated what it would cost to go several
months ago. It turned out that w/ tax it's only a few dollars more Canadian
than ! had estimated in US dollars. About 75% of what ! expected. And ! think
! get some kind of refund or credit of the GST when ! return to America. GST
is 8% on just about everything. !'ll have to research it. !'ll be calling H&R
Block tomorrow. ! hit 3,000 miles just after leaving the rail station. !
wandered about town for a while then to the grocery. What do Canadians eat? !
wandered all around that store and couldn't find anything ! wanted. Good
thing ! had a can of soup already. After a nap ! found out where a Safeway
was and the kayak rental place. No rentals unless you've got more sea
kayaking experience than ! have. Damn. It seems the only way !'ll be out on
the water is a private lesson. All the tours are booked for the year. The
Safeway didn't have a great selection either. ! wandered the aisles for an
hour before ! found food for the rest of MY stay. This is NOT USA. 23 miles.
