Day 39 Rest Day July 20, 2001

Not very far to the hostel so ! took it easy. ! hardly used MY big ring @
all today. !'m in old town Bandon, OR. Right across the street from the
harbor. This is a fairly large town along the coast. 2,270 people. There are
very few people in this country who live in big cities. A lot are just living
in little towns. Just before ! got to town ! stopped for fudge @ a little
shoppe. Just as ! pulled in one of the state representatives pulled in to
talk to the owner about highway access. It seems the D.O.T. is way out of
line and making things up. This is a nice little tourist town. Lots of little
shoppes. ! think !'m going to stay tomorrow too and take a sea kayak up the
Coquille river for a few hours. !'ve been watching the sunsets when it isn't
fogged over. Amazing tonight. It set behind the lighthouse. The clouds lit up
and turned orange. The bay was streaked w/ orange. A mere 28 miles.
