Day 31 Vultures July 12, 2001

! slept really well last night. 10 hours. ! checqued MY resting heart
rate. It was only 48 bpm. Usually it's right @ 60. Everywhere ! go around
here they seem to be conserving water. They have nearly half the water on the
planet sitting right next to them. ! don't understand. The air is so dense
here. And damp. No wonder they got an ocean. All that humidity condensed out
in a big puddle. ! got 1 mile out and a vulture leapt from a tree and flew
gracelessly down the road in front of ME. ! nearly hit it. ! stopped soon n
after that @ a hotel for breakfast. They had an ocean view and a little
ornamental pool in the back. There were a couple raccoons hanging out back
there. They've had 'coons get into to kitchen overnight before. @ the
restaurant ! met Cayc & Dee. They are traveling up the coast by SUV. !'ve
learned that the coast is either cold and foggy or cold and windy. The wind
blows away the fog. ! got to see the ocean in the sunshine today. It really
is big. ! think !'m a little too far north to see Hawaii by now. Maybe if the
sun had been out a few days ago. !'m @ a KOA Kampground outside Manchester,
CA. 49 miles.
