Day 28 Point Reyes July 9, 2001

! came across the Golden Gate Bridge today. It's a long way down over the
sides and very windy. ! had to walk the whole way. After wandering around on
the other side ! finally figured out where to go. Into Sausalito where ! had
lunch. Now, when ! go in a place that sells burgers of $8 ! expect better
service than waiting 10-15 minutes to get MY order taken then nothing from
the waiter until ! go up and ask for MY checque. No service No tip. The hills
around here are harsh and twisty. Then on the last descent to the hostel !
saw one of the steep descent signs w/ the truck on it. It said 17%. !'ve seen
a bunch that say 6%. 17% is a steep hill. !'m going to spend tomorrow here
and ride to the lighthouse beach to look for whales and seals. It's 25 miles
each way. W/out the trailer. !'ll get to see if !'m getting any stronger.
